About Lara Zilibowitz

Lara is an internationally touring yoga and meditation teacher, a qualified holistic art therapist, the founder of the Body Poetry Yoga School, and the visionary creator of Art of Being Retreats. Lara travels the world, curating life-changing events and trainings, teaching at festivals and sharing her passion for the intrinsic wisdom of the body and soul. She is an accomplished writer, poet, artist, ceramicist, dancer, and an ambassador for yoga and lifestyle brands such as Wanderlust Festivals, Lululemon athletica, Casall Training, and Aveda hair and skin care. She has also graced the cover of Yoga Journal Australia.

Lara uses yoga as a transformative tool, guiding students to find magic and meaning within their own bodies. Her teachings focus on the deep, meditative aspects of yoga, and through her warm, authentic guidance, she encourages her students to embrace their struggles as pathways to wisdom and freedom.

A Dream Collaboration

Having attended Lara’s yoga classes and workshops both in person and online, I have always connected with her unique, authentic and artistic approach to teaching. Inspired by her creative expression, Lara felt like a natural choice for an artist collaboration with ZONE, and we were delighted when she accepted our invitation.

From Vision to Reality

The concept for the "Cycle of Life" mat was born from heartfelt conversations about what Lara values most in her teachings. She wanted to explore the concept of "opening up to awe", and in doing so, illustrate life's contrasts—the shadow and light that shapes our world and our daily experiences. The Tree of Life, an ancient symbol rich with meaning, became the foundation of her design. It was inspiring to watch her ideas take shape through the form of sketches and illustrations. 

The Essence of the "Cycle of Life" Mat

The finished design is a canvas of contrasts: one side depicts a serene night sky, inviting calm and reflection, while the other celebrates the vibrant energy of daylight, encouraging vitality and joy.

The artwork symbolises the continuous cycle within us and in the natural world around us. At the root of the centred Tree of Life is a heart that symbolically anchors the tree, representing the core of human emotion and experience.
