As you can probably gather, here at ZONE we love essential oils! We are fascinated by the aromatic and medicinal benefits of pure essential oils which is why we were inspired to create our three signature blends using Australian essential oils - many of which are still relatively unknown.

Pure essential oils have been 'on-trend' for decades now for their mind, body, and soul benefits. However, it is believed that the use of essential oils originated with Egyptians back in 4500BC, who used natural oils in an array of cosmetics, balms and ointments. They have also been found to be used in China and India from as early as 3000BC, where they were used for their aromatic benefits as well as medicinal and healing benefits.  

Essential oils are natural concentrated plant extracts that capture the flora’s ‘essence’ or recognisable aromatic characteristics. These oils are often made by pressing or steaming the plant to obtain the compounds that produce its fragrance. 

Today, essential oils are often used for the mental and physical benefits they provide, particularly through aromatherapy. This practice utilises essential oils for a desired response such as to invigorate, energise, calm or promote relaxation.

What are the benefits of using essential oils?


Essentials oils are primarily used throughout aromatherapy for their mental and health benefits. Some essential oils, like ginger, can also be ingested to support immune health, aid in digestion and to support the healing process of certain ailments.

Using Essential Oils 

There are three main ways to incorporate essential oils into your everyday life: aromatherapy, ingestion, and topical application. 


AROMATHERAPY:

This is when you smell the essential oils through methods such as diffusing, sprays, dry evaporation, and steam inhalation. Our ‘Essential Oils and Sprays’ are great for receiving the benefits of essential oils via aromatherapy and can be used as a room spray or tonic, a perfume or on pulse points, in your laundry, and diluted as an all natural cleaner for your yoga mat and surfaces.

Alternatively, a couple of drops of our essential oils can be placed into a diffuser or oil burner to uplift your space, studio or home. 


INGESTION:

Standard methods of essential oil ingestion include drinking teas, adding flavour to sweets (like peppermint oil), or placing one or two drops on or under the tongue. Our ZONE essential oil blends are not suitable for ingestion.

TOPICAL APPLICATION:

This involves applying the essential oils directly to the skin where it is absorbed. Some essential oils like wintergreen and peppermint oil are great for relieve muscular aches and pains. Our essential oils, particularly our ‘Focus’ oil, is excellent on pulse points as well as a perfume.
